Youth Baseball Bats

When choosing a youth baseball bat you will need to check carefully the rules in the league that is to be played in, as each league has different regulations regarding bat length, weight and materials.  Many of these regulations have been put in place purely for safety reasons, as some baseball bats (such as lightweight Aluminum) can produce extremely powerful hits with little effort, which can be very dangerous to other players out on the field.  For example High School and college leagues are limited to bats with a maximum barrel diameter of a -3 oz weight to length ratio, so you must take this into account if you are playing in these leagues when purchasing your baseball bat.

Wood bats are still used in youth leagues, but these can be very expensive and are often just too heavy for most players, so it is much more common to see Aluminum and composite metal youth bats in use, as these offer durable, lightweight options that can start from as little as $30.  If however you do want to purchase a wood youth bat then you could try one of the new bamboo bats that are now on the market, as these offer an extremely strong, durable wood that is also very lightweight.
