Aluminum Baseball Bats

Aluminum baseball bats can be manufactured to be much lighter and stronger than wood bats, which gives them superior striking speed and striking force.  In fact aluminum bats can be so much better they have been banned from professional leagues, as not only would new stadiums have to be built to accommodate the powerful hitting range, but also all previous records held by many great players and teams through the years using traditional wood bats would be rendered completely obsolete.

Aluminum bats can be made with different alloy mixes, which are designed to improve strength and durability, and these vary in price according to the quality of the mix.  One of the most expensive aluminum alloys (known as C555) contains the rare earth metal scandium, which creates a high performance bat that can cost anywhere from between $250 and $600, but the cheaper standard aluminum alloy (7046) also makes good bats, which can costs as little as $40.  Aluminum is commonly used in composite bats, where the alloy is combined with other materials such as carbon or Kevlar fibers, to improve strength and durability.

The low cost of the standard aluminum baseball bats makes them an ideal choice for beginners and novices, and most amateur level clubs and leagues do allow them to be used.
